Nashville Area Becomes One of Nation’s Top Retirement Destinations

In its July-August issue, Where to Retire Magazine recognized Westhaven in Franklin as one of the “50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the U.S.”

Eighty-five people are moving to Middle Tennessee every day from all parts of the country. A lot of them are moving to be closer to their kids and grandkids,” said Chris O’Neal, chief sales officer for Goodall Homes. Regional planners anticipate another 1 million people to move to the area over the next 20 years.

Goodall sees a growing market for homes with one-level floor plans, wide doorways and zero-step entries that appeal to older buyers. That portion of the home-buying market is growing. The AARP estimates that 8,000 baby boomers turn 65 every day.
