The small, tight-knit neighborhood of 12South is located on the blocks to either side of 12th Avenue South, between Wedgewood Avenue to the north and the I-440 overpass to the south. The neighborhood was developed into a mixed-use area of independent small businesses and residential streets in the 1940s and has experienced amazing revitalization and growth in the past 15 years. Today it is a largely upper-middle class area of lovingly restored homes and an active community network, where folks are frequently out walking their dogs, working in the yard, and making their way to 12th Avenue to shop and socialize.
